The Wichita District Dental Society is a component of the Kansas Dental Association which is a constituent of the American Dental Association.

WDDS HISTORY
In 1909, Dr. and Mrs. C.G. Adams invited a group of Wichita dentists to their home for dinner. From this small beginning, the Wichita District Dental Society has grown to a membership of almost 220 dentists.

Course Description:

Learn how to provide 360° of safety protection for the dental team and patients.  Jackie Dorst‘s fast paced, fun seminar reviews the CDC Infection Prevention Guidelines and OSHA safety for the dental team.   She will provide attendees with innovative solutions to safety challenges along with motivating exercises to encourage the entire dental team to practice 360° of Protection!

New products, new technologies and yes even new protocols can save your dental practice time and money while ensuring patient and employee safety.

Jackie Dorst’s 360° of Protection seminar provides the latest information from OSHA, CDC and the Kansas Dental Board.  Attendees learn how to implement OSHA’s GHS chemical safety labeling requirement with internet resources and cost effective labeling.  Jackie is a master of simplifying complicated OSHA paper work for the dental team.  Her fun and energy inspire the entire dental team.  

Emerging diseases, complex dental technology equipment, medically compromised patients and infection prevention breaches have prompted CDC to publish new Summary of Infection Prevention Practices in Dental Settings: Basic Expectations for Safe Care.  Jackie will review the CDC’s Infection Prevention Summary and provide recommendations for products and techniques to help your practice update your infection prevention program to meet CDC’s Standards.

This fun and educational seminar will provide 6 hours infection prevention continuing education plus the required annual OSHA safety training for your dental team.

Learning Objectives:  

·       Identify hazard associated with each GHS pictogram

·       Demonstrate correct sterile instrument packaging

·       Differentiate between biological monitor, sterile integrator and sterile indicator

·       List correct sequence for donning & doffing PPE

Bio:

Jackie Dorst speaks, writes and consults on dental instrument sterilization, infection prevention and OSHA safety.   Her experience in the dental profession, business, public speaking and research contribute to her energetic seminars based on scientific information applied to clinical effectiveness and efficiency. 

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Georgia and, as an undergraduate, served as a Research Assistant in Medical Mycology.  Jackie is a Dental Hygiene graduate of Clayton State University.

Jackie Dorst’s speaking credentials include the International Orthodontic Congress in Paris and the 3rd International Congress of Dental Technology in Yokohama, Japan.  She has been a featured speaker at the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Association of Endodontists, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association and RDH Under One Roof in addition to state and regional professional meetings. 

Jackie is a member of the Organization for Safety, Asepsis & Prevention, OSAP, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, APIC, the National Speakers Association, and she is OSHA certified to deliver safety training courses.
